"Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you And all the things you do Yeah, they were all yellow" ~Coldplay About The Mosaic There are exactly 1,217 icons in this mosaic. There might be one or two that appear twice, but I was fairly careful about not repeating them. It took a little over a week to put together, what with sending notes, posting on the forums, collecting the icons, and placing them. I was actually going to make a Jark icon mosaic back in 2003, but when I started, not enough deviants had yellow icons for it to really work, and I didn't get many responses. This time around, there was so much yellow and so many people willing to participate that I made the frame for Jark FAR too large (darn me and my ambition), so I ended up only going to the brown strap. I would have kept going, but as you all know, today is Yellow Day, and I didn't want it to be late. Hey! Where's my icon?! If your icon is not on here, then you either didn't look hard enough, didn't give me permission, or I didn't find you in time. Sorry! Why does Jark mean so much to you? You might wonder why I bothered to do this. Well, °jark and °matteo honestly changed the entire course of my life. When I joined DeviantArt, I was a struggling songwriter desperate to be heard. I was also a closet bisexual. This site enabled me to share my music and get encouragement, and a club on this site called =dapride helped me to come out and feel more confident. I soon became an admin of =dapride. While patroling the club site one day, I met a guy in Australia, ~cadedyeko. He posted on the side of the page looking for a female vocalist, and we got to talking and decided to start a band. That was back in 2002. In June of 2005, we released our first cd, titled "Halos In The Sky" (go to [link] to check it out). It's all going uphill from there. We've done interviews, had numerous reviews, and are quickly receiving publicity. Our dreams as artists are coming true. So what does ANY of this have to do with °jark and °matteo? If they had not created DeviantArt, then none of this would be happening. Meeting Cade and sharing my songs with other deviants were the key ingredients to the beginning of success. Without this site, I would still be a completely lost struggling artist. So why no giant Matteo? °matteo, I want you to know that you mean just as much to me, seeing as you were an original co-founder as well. But a giant pug is far more difficult to put together, and I don't think that I could find enough brown icons. Consider this a tribute to both °jark AND yourself. In closing... |
